Celebrate the Holiday Season with acclaimed keyboardists, Anthony Newman and Mary Jane Newman, with a program of piano duet that features select preludes and fugues of Bach and sonatas of Mozart arranged for two pianos.

Labeled the “High Priest of Bach” by Wynton Marsalis, Anthony Newman is considered by many to be America’s leading Bach specialist. His wife, Sanctuary Series Artistic Director, Mary Jane Newman, herself an acclaimed pianist and organist, made her New York debut in 1986 in Lincoln Center’s “Great Performers” series at Alice Tully Hall. Since then, she has appeared as soloist and conductor with orchestras, chamber ensembles and vocal groups throughout Europe, the U.S. and Israel.

“Innovators” – featuring Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner

The Sanctuary Series welcomes 24-year-old American pianist Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner, winner of the 2022 Concert Artists Guild competition who will open the fall portion of the 2022 2023 season with a program, entitled “Innovators,” features works by Schubert, Liszt, Chávez and Stravinsky.

Mesmerizing artistry and extraordinary ability to communicate (The Post-Standard) and masterful technique and a veritable deluge of sonorities (La Presse Montreal), describe Sanchez-Werner for performances that have stirred the intellect and humanity of his audiences on five continents. Selected a Gilmore Young Artist, his multi-faceted artistry has been featured on NPR, PBS, CNN International, the Wall Street Journal, and WDR-Arte. Committed to public service, he received the Atlantic Council Young Global Citizen Award recognizing his dedication to social action through music.
