DESCRIPTION:Elena Rubin\, flute • Anthony Newman\, piano\, organ\nA Young Genius features the radiant artistry of flutist Elena Rubin with works by Bach\, Beethoven and Newman performed with Series co-artistic director Anthony Newman on piano who will also perform Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue in G minor on the organ. \n\nSonata in B minor (BWV 1030) for flute and piano\, J.S. Bach\nFantasia and Fugue in G minor for organ\, J.S. Bach\nPartita in C for flute and piano\, A. Newman\nSerenade for Flute and Piano in D major\, Op. 41 L.v. Beethoven\n\nDubbed the “high priest of the harpsichord” by Time magazine\, acclaimed keyboardist Anthony Newman is considered America’s foremost Bach interpreter. Over his career he has collaborated with major artists including Wynton Marsalis\, Itzhak Perlman\, Kathleen Battle\, Jean-Pierre Rampal\, and Leonard Bernstein. \nUp and coming flutist Elena Rubin has appeared at numerous festivals where she has been recognized including the Eastern Music Festival where she was a concerto competition winner. Active as a freelancer and a teacher she received a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory. Recently\, she moved to Chicago to continue her studies under the tutelage of Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson. \nSouth Salem Presbyterian Church is at 111 Spring Street\, South Salem\, NY.
